Breaks

A break from work. Today is my first day off work since our wet week away. Sunday was a day to catch up on all the household stuff. Last week I gave up my day off to go to a manager's meeting. Early start, three trains to catch and then late getting back home. At least the shop is not as busy now that the summer holiday season is over I don't seem to be chasing my tail as much but having said that all our Christmas stock is now being delivered. I still get home from work and feel very tired A week on Sunday I will have to be at work as the shop is having a re-fit and so not looking forward to that.

Hubby is still not enjoying his job, but needs must as he says. He was pretty disgusted earlier this week. He works five and a half hours a day with a fifteen minute unpaid break. For the last four months he has left his snack in a carrier bag in the staff canteen. Only on Monday someone had stolen his food. If they were that hungry he is the sort of person who would give them his snack, but to steal from your work mates is pretty despicable. To think that just a week before he had taken the staff presents from our holiday.

I have to go into town later today as it's both son and son-in-laws birthdays next week and I haven't got them any birthdays cards as yet. That's how disorganised I have become. Not the person I used to be!

Not much other news but I have borrowed a photo from Carol. Poor Tinker is always in the wars. Fooling around with Eric she broke her dew claw which then had to be removed by the vet. You can just see in the photo the wound that Annie made while we were on holiday. That looks to be healing nicely and now this. Poor Miss Tinker.

Wet week away

We're back from our week's holiday in the Lake District where it rained and rained and rained....

We were in the caravan next door but one to daughter, son-in-law and their two dogs who had already been on the site for a week before we arrived. It was a nice, quiet site with it's own dog-walk and a field which I assume was for tents but the dogs claimed as their own as no-one was silly enough to be camping in that weather. We certainly like our home comforts as we had a lovely centrally-heated, double-glazed caravan.

Despite the bad weather we had a few trips to the beach to exercise the dogs, a day in Keswick in the rain, a day trip to Lake Windermere in the rain, a day in Whitehaven in the rain and the day we chose to walk around Ennerdale Lake was in torrential rain and we were all soaked to the skin!

Apart from being out in the rain, there was a mishap early in the week when the four dogs were playing excitedly in their field and Tinker was hurt by little Annie. Tinker has a puncture wound on her side, which meant a trip to the vet. She didn't need stitches just antibiotics.

We didn't take many photos but this one is of the dogs on the beach, Amber always manages to find a stick

I like this one of Annie sheltering from the rain under Tinker

and I like this one of Annie in the caravan totally fed up with all that rain!
